Make creativity part of your daily routine
Creative thinking on a
daily basis can offer multiple rewards. The practice of creative thinking can
not only enhance your daily living experience but also upgrade your
professional life.
While creativity is
often attributed to inherent talent it is a fact that unless practised regularly
the creative spark dies down. To keep it alive you have to work at it through
daily practice. Practising daily will help you develop the flow of creativity
that can be tapped into whenever you require it.
But the question is how
to make creativity part of a daily routine. How to make sure that it
evolves every time you want it and makes you satisfied?
To make it a habit,
find time for creativity every day. It is best to schedule a time every day when
you will sit down in peace and think something creative or do something
creative. It could be writing a piece or drawing or singing or playing an
instrument. It can be anything that gives your mind the feeling of unbound
freedom and satisfaction.
Jot down in a journal
what are the areas in which you can practice creativity. Add one or two
examples every day. Seeing your creative prospects in written form can help you
keep track of them and make changes when required from time to time.
Treat yourself
favourably after every time you do something creative. The habit of self-congratulation will keep you on track of your creative pursuit and encourage you to
achieve new goals through creativity.
Creativity is also a 9part of mindful living. If you want to live by creativity apply your mind in
whatever way possible in your daily activities. Where there is the application of
the mind there is enough scope of creativity.
Don’t over-criticize yourself. At worst it will kill and at best cripple
your creative hopes and dreams. When pursuing creativity it is essential to
give your mind a free flow. Subjecting it to continuous criticism can hamper
the creative process and make it less interesting.
When we are creative we feel as if the world around us is vibrantly
alive. Creativity’s by-products are some of the major achievements of
civilization-from the invention of the wheel to Mozart’s sonatas.
Creativity is like a muscle. You have to use it daily to make it grow
stronger. The more you use your creativity, the easier it becomes and the
better you get at it.
Make your immediate surroundings as beautiful or aesthetic as you can.
Experiment with your sense of colour, texture, and line. Add an element of
surprise or quirkiness to whatever you pursue. The unexpected can bring you out
of complacency and provide inspiration.
Slow down your perceptions so you savour them-that means eat slowly and
taste your food, look closely at the flowers in the garden, spend time writing
down your thoughts and drawing your ideal life situations. Creativity is a way
of living life that embraces originality and makes unique connections between
seemingly distinct ideas. Simply put, it makes life infinitely interesting and
fulfilling. Creativity is about living life as a journey into seeing and
communicating the extra-ordinariness of the simplest, most everyday acts.
